Hurricane "Earl" Info

As we finish our preparations for Hurricane "Earl", please know the OBAR office will be closed - but staff will continue to actively provide up-to-date information and instructions throughout and after. Primarily, we'll send out updates through our OBAR Severe Weather Alert email list. We receive and turn around information from Dare County, Hyde County, and Currituck County areas. You can also visit their county websites directly for specific information.

During and especially after the events - we are here to help. OBAR works hand in hand with the Emergency Management teams on behalf of all REALTORS^®/Property Managers and Affiliates, submitting information and requests on a regular and systematic basis from our members, to ensure the public is prepared and safe and that we can get back up and running as soon as possible. Photos can be submitted, and email is the preferred form for any information you have for them or us.

Our strength is expressed through active volunteers who become the leadership and foresight of the Association. Annually, we call for capable REALTOR^® Volunteers to step up and serve on OBAR's highest volunteer body...the Board of Directors. There are several OBAR Director and Officer Positions coming open this term.

2007 Legislative Policy Statement
In September 2007, the Outer Banks Association of REALTORS^® adopted Legislative Policies for the purpose of fostering a proactive relationship with local and state legislative leaders, and to be the leading advocate of the real estate industry, private property rights and the issues that most affect the member's ability to serve the public with competency, integrity and professionalism.

Five key issues affecting the Outer Banks communities has been developed. Please take a few minutes to review the OBAR Legislative Policy Statements and learn of these five integral issues we have taken positions on.
