Did you know that OBAR has a Scholarship Fund held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation? Did you know that since 1994 OBAR has awarded over $277,000 in scholarships to 183 high school seniors in Dare and Currituck Counties and Ocracoke? Did you know any high school senior can apply - not just those in public high schools, but also seniors in private schools and home schooled seniors .......And that the senior does not have to have a family member that is a REALTOR?
OBAR gives back to the community in a big way with their scholarship awards. What better way to invest in the future than by investing in the higher education of our local graduates. In 2023, OBAR awarded eight, $1,500 scholarships. Recipients included Tyler Babcock, JP Knapp Early College; Tatum Dermatas, First Flight High; Ella Gardiner, Manteo High; Jenni Hooper, Manteo High; Briana Lee, Manteo High; Dylan Talley, First Flight High; Gavin Thompson, Cape Hatteras Secondary; and Rylee Young, First Flight High.
In case you missed it, the application process is still open but the application deadline is fast approaching. Seniors have until Monday, March 4th to submit their application through the Outer Banks Community Foundation. The OBAR Scholarship Committee then reviews applications, schedules interviews, and makes the final decision on the scholarship award recipients.

OBAR's Disaster Relief and Scholarship Funds are held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation. OBAR holds three charitable events each year referred to as "Surf, Turf, and Roll" - a Bowling, Golf, and Surf Fishing Tournament - with all proceeds benefitting the two funds. A special thanks to all that have participated in and supported these events to make our scholarships and helping those in need possible!
