November General Membership Meeting Recap
The General Membership & Annual Business Meeting took place on November 29th at Captain George’s Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills.
During the meeting, Jacqueline Ricks-Sample presented the 2018 Career Achievement Award to Michael Davenport for his 33 years of involvement in the real estate industry, both on a local and state level. His family surprised him with their attendance as he was presented with the award. Michael was also recognized as the 2018 recipient of the NC REALTORS® Ben Ball Community Service Award for his contributions to the betterment of our community through outstanding public service.
NC Real Estate Commission Board Member, Jeff Malarney, was our guest speaker and provided an update from the Commission.
We had a successful quorum for our election with 127 REALTOR® members in attendance. The 2019 budget and Bylaws changes were unanimously approved.
The following 2019 candidates were elected:
President – J-P Peron
President– Jimmy Anderson
Treasurer – Richard Tolson
Secretary – Stephanie Walker
Property Management Director – Brook Sparks
2019 Directors – Natalie Painter, Michele Clark, and Amber McDowell-Dawson
Good Neighbor League awards were given to Marsha Brown, Joe & Ann Lamb (accepted by their grandsons, Patrick Lamb and Joey Lamb), and Tim Cafferty, who have all made an impact on our community through volunteer work.
A check for $24,131.50 was presented to the Outer Banks Community Foundation by 2018 Surf Fishing Chair Aimee Pitts of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, 2018 Golf Tournament Chair Kathie Nesbitt of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and 2018 Bowling Tournament Committee Member Brook Sparks of Beach Realty & Construction; this money funds local disaster relief and scholarships.
The next OBAR General Membership Meeting will take place January 24, 2019 at 8:30A at Captain George’s.

At this meeting, 2019 Board of Directors will be elected, all attendees will have the opportunity to vote on the 2019 Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) budget and Bylaws & Policy changes, new members will be inducted, and we will welcome Jeffery Malarney, who serves on the NC Real Estate Commission, for a presentation with Q&A.
This is a “don’t miss” lunch meeting and we need a quorum.
