President (2-Year Commitment)
The President represents the Association in the community, serves as the spokesperson for OBAR, and presides over the Board and General Membership Meetings. They appoint action committees to implement adopted programs, work closely with the Executive Officer to strengthen the Association’s internal structure, and address criticisms regarding the Association’s policies or performance.
The President is knowledgeable about and supportive of the operations and policies of both the State and National Associations and attends relevant conventions and meetings. They also preside over the Executive Committee. This position requires travel, with reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.
The President is elected as “President-Elect” the prior year or assumes the role due to a vacancy in the current Presidency.
Requirements
- Be an “Active Status” REALTOR® in good standing.
- Served as an OBAR Committee Chair or served on the OBAR Board of Directors for a minimum of one (1) year within the past seven years.
- Successfully completed FAIRHAVEN training.

- Relative industry knowledge/business experience that will provide valuable insight and guidance on matters directly affecting our members and community.
- Ability to think critically and strategically about the Association’s mission and goals, and, to contribute to the development of effective strategies for success.
- A commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Fair Housing and the ability to bring diverse perspectives and experiences to boardroom discussions.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team and contribute constructively to board discussions and the decision-making process.
