Dare County checkpoint personnel have reported an increase in visitors attempting to gain access to the OBX with copied re-entry permits. As a result checkpoint personnel are now checking driver’s licenses to ensure they match the name on the re-entry permit. If they do not match, the entry permit will be REVOKED for the person whose name is on it. In addition, attempts to “ferry” visitors across the bridges will also result in entry permits being revoked.
Please be advised that further restrictions will be implemented if these practices continue to be utilized.
