Outer Banks Association Milepost May 3rd

Welcome New Shared GAD

Last year, OBAR and the Outer Banks Home Builders Association decided to utilize the NC REALTORS® Shared GAD program to find a replacement for former Government Affairs Director (GAD), Willo Kelly. After conducting extensive interviews we are excited to announce that a new Shared GAD has been hired. Porter Graham joins us from Washington, DC where he was the Veteran’s Policy Advisor to U.S. Representative Robert Latta (OH-05). Porter had also previously worked with U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08).

Born in Minneapolis, MN, Porter is a graduate of George Washington University. As a Shared GAD, Porter will monitor and interpret all pending legislation which may affect the membership of each Association, private property rights, the real estate and home building industries. In working with each Association’s respective legislative committees, Porter will also be involved in interviewing political candidates for local office to educate them on local REALTOR® & home builder priorities, and he will be working with the NC REALTORS® Government Affairs team on state issues that impact the local area and the real estate and home builders industries.

Says Porter, “My goal is to ensure that local policy respects property rights and REALTORS’® important role as informed stewards of this community and of homeowners’ investments.”

Porter jumped into his role as Shared GAD in April and has already been present at town meetings. He recently attended the NC Coastal Resources Commission (NCCRC) meeting and the NC Beach Inlet & Waterway Association (NC BIWA) conference held in Emerald Isle earlier this week.

In his spare time, he is an avid runner who is planning on running a marathon within the next year. Please join us in welcoming Porter to the OBAR family. You may reach him at pgraham@ncrealtors.org or 336.550.4422.

How it works: When using the SentriSmart™ app to open a lockbox, the Agent Safety feature will launch.
